Good as a short stop-over. Hostel room was spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, shower clean and all in working order. A bit disorganised regarding a drink in the bar, dinner and breakfast was good. Included fresh fruit and eggs. Area around the immediate hostel was very poor, two abandoned cars, and barking dogs during the early part of the evening. Seemingly quiet and safe to walk in the neighbourhood during day-light, but wouldn't recommend during dark. A short taxi ride from the old town of Quito. We want to thank Pablo and the other staff at Hostal de la Rabid for making our 5 night stay in Quito (enroute to Galapagos) very pleasant. Our room was comfortable, and the breakfasts were good. Also, one of our best meals in Quito was a dinner of Sea Bass one evening at the Hostal - a pleasant surprise.
