Arrived November 24th, 2016. While checking in they asked if it was my birthday and I said yes, tomorrow is my birthday. They said well we have a surprise for you - we are upgrading you to a premium room with a jacuzzi on the balcony facing the pool and ocean view! Best birthday ever! The resort is beautiful with well manicured grounds. The room was beautiful and upgraded. The food and service was excellent. Snorkeling was also good at south end of beach. We will be returning to this resort. A huge thank you to Barcelo Maya Beach for a wonderful vacation!. From rhodie7130

The resort is very well maintain, Please use the Bus to move from Hotel to Hotel. It does stop at 12;00 pm, Make reservations to the restaurants early on, The Italian and Kyoto were our Favorite,you can also do buffets on all the Hotels, which is nice, Ivan Uh and Francly Caamal were our Buffet guys at the Playa Maya and they were in top of it.
