We holidayed in July with temps around 35 degrees and high humidity. It would be great if they had aircon in the restaurants as well as the rooms (we were sooo grateful for the great in-room aircon units!). Staff were a mixture of brilliant and indifferent but the management welcomed constructive comments and have a strong willingness to improve areas they are aware aren't quite there yet. Whilst it's easy to be picky about what wasn't quite right, they try very hard, it's an absolutely beautiful, calm and relaxing resort and they do a brilliant job when you acknowledge the limitations of the country and lack of facilities elsewhere. My main tips are, ensure you have a first floor room (some guests are very heavy footed on tiled floors) and take a large insulated travel mug or similar as all non-restaurant drinks are served in tiny plastic beakers, insufficient for that long cool drink needed in this climate. We would definitely return to this hotel if returning to Cuba and, having seen a few of the other hotels on offer in Mantanzas, Havana and Vadereo, we think we chose the best. We stayed here twice in June 2016 (came back on our round trip because we liked it so much) and were not disappointed: The rooms are really nice, the hotel complex is well-maintained and the service is most of the times really willing and friendly. The pool is nice, but the best bit definitely is the beach and the coral reef just 50m in front of it, which I hope they are able to preserve for a long time.
