Our third trip to Cayo Largo island and still planning to return. Staying in Sol Pelicano first time as we originally preferred Sol Cayo Largo showed as sold out flying from Toronto (Dec. 3rd to 10th). Weather was a bit of a mix of sun, clouds and heavy rains (lasting~24hrs). Still enough of sun remained in the sky to enjoy the beaches. We love the relaxed atmosphere and atmosphere that makes you feel like you were there many times before. Staff takes very good care of your needs, whether we talk dining, beach, entertainment or other services. We were very happy to meet again and chat with Emir (tour's coordinator). He takes very good care of all your needs and is very knowledgeable in history and all recent news. We rented a car, toured island as before from east to west (not a long distance), explored on foot few isolated shorelines. Such pristine landscapes are only found on Cayo Largo. A la cart dinner was superior. Sol Pelicano provides the right mix of good accommodation, food, relaxation, entertainment and the atmosphere. This is the place for people looking to relax, if looking for massive all night parties - take a different direction. This was our second trip to Sol Pelicano and we tried 2 weeks this time. Loved it. The beach is a huge factor in our rating - soft, cool sand, turquoise water and you can walk for miles. We found the food better this year with lots of variety; especially loved the fresh fish grilled each day with lime garnish. Glad to hear the hotel is working towards wi-fi connections but we enjoyed the step back in time to a holiday with no outside distractions. Last year my only complaint was the coffee from a machine and this year glad to see better coffee in urns at the buffet.
